The Journey Back to Art

After leaving school I completed a Bachelor of Fine Art. Although I tried hard to stay connected to my practice, life took me down a different path. I focused on raising a family and navigating some tough life events. Through it all, my longing for a creative life never waned. Unfortunately, even when I finally regained the physical and mental space for an art practice, I found myself facing a severe creative block that lasted for years.

Those years of creative blocks finally lifted. They simply dissolved, leaving me completely obsessed with making art again.

My Artistic Practice

My work usually results in the tension and balance between chaos and structure, though this has always been a subconscious process. I simply trust my instincts, my artistic training and aesthetic eye to guide me. Yet the end result consistently resolves into a space where both forces, chaos and structure, coexist. Just like life itself.

My creative process involves both spontaneous and deliberate mark-making, bold colours, multi media, geometric shapes, and repeated patterns. The end result is multi-layered and built up over time. Again, much like life itself.

I am guided by joy and obsession. For me, art is a visual language that transcends mental processing. I offer no concepts or hidden meanings, only hoping for my art to speak directly to your hearts, bodies and instincts.
